Vizuálny štýl Apple je dlhé roky obdivovaný napriek tomu, že prešiel veľkými zmenami. Odráža sa to aj na písme, ktoré Apple používa, či už pre marketing alebo na displejoch svojich počítačov. Od založenia v sedemdesiatych rokoch prešiel výraznými futuristickými písmami, cez pätkové písmo, až po celkom nevýrazné bezpätkové písma. Napriek tomu, že sa to nezdá, firma nie je v používaní písma veľmi jednotná a momentálne využíva množstvo rozličných písiem. Iný font má pre iPhone, iný pre Mac OS X a iný pre reklamu.

When gauging the relative merits of the 35,000-plus logos that have been submitted from all over the world to the LogoLounge.com site in the past 18 months, it would have been supremely helpful to have some sort of magical scanner-like device that could objectively compare, classify, and quantify the success of each design. But likely such a device could only spot the obvious visual trends.

Roa's work translates easily from the streets to a gallery setting and this show in the small but perfectly formed Pure Evil Gallery in Shoreditch is one of the finest I've seen in a long time. Featuring a pretty unique interactive element many of the artworks can be flipped open or closed to reveal the different states of their animals decay or their vital organs. And with a cleverly layed out range of site specific works, art pieces for sale and a room full of photos of his work in situ the space it's a show that London really needs right now to give it a much needed shot of originality. Here's hoping that originality transfers itself to the streets as well before Roa leaves town....

Crisis in Kyrgyzstan

Widespread anti-government protests in Kyrgyzstan recently turned violent, with groups of opposition protesters attempting to storm some government buildings, and clashing with riot police. Tensions are high, as Kyrgyz authorities declared a national state of emergency, and are enforcing curfews in at least three cities. As riot police fired on opposition members and protesters fought with stones and captured weapons, estimates of casualties have varied widely, with reports ranging from 12 killed to over 100 killed. Opposition leaders appear to have taken over some of the national television channels, and President Kurmanbek Bakiyev appears to have fled the capital, Bishkek overnight. As the situation in Kyrgyzstan remains in flux, I may post more photos here later, as warranted.

Late last night Banksy released an additional poster that he created for the United States release of his first feature film EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP.

The demo looks more like some voodoo magical trick than image editing, but it seems to be a really spectacular feature. I’d like to try it in real with some more tricky images, but it seems quite efficient. Also, if Photoshop is out of your budget, it seems that Gimp does something similar.

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of the Swiss graffiti legend Sigi von Koeding aka Dare. We’ve been told that Dare died at the hospital in Basel, Switzerland the evening of March 6th 2010.
Sigi von Koeding lost his life in a battle with cancer. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his family, friends and many fans around the world.

Last night, a crowd of 60,000 filled BC Place in Vancouver for the Closing Ceremony, which took place shortly after the final event - a Gold Medal win by host nation Canada's ice hockey team over the U.S. The Olympic flame will next pass to London, England in 2012 for the Summer Games, and to Sochi, Russia in 2014 for the next Winter games. Ronah Carraro is 32 years old, born and raised on the traditional area of Mooca, Sao Paulo. Graduated in arts, very urban, amazed by the big concrete buildings that scrape the sky of the enormous Sao Paulo. Work as a designer and passes by different supports with his creations. From professional references he takes the vector lines from the digital universe and adds up to his works. Canvas, wood, paper, or graffiting on walls, his work depicts the behavioral diversity using vibrant colors with a line drive and striking.

Was very interested in getting a balance to this work - those that design graffiti would be well aware of the importance of balance both in lettering and in the overall weight of the work. In this one I was trying to also play with the z space and balance the weight forwards and backwards so that where this is a curve in the lettering behind the work there is also a counterweight at the front. I put the triangle in to highlight overall what I was trying to do with the negative space in the work and the way I was trying to shape the overall design of the piece.

Last night, Vancouver, British Columbia welcomed the world, as over 2,600 winter athletes from 82 countries entered the BC Place arena, ready to compete in 86 events in 15 different sports. The opening ceremony focused on Canadian diversity and heritage, with emphasis on the many cultures of the First Nations. After the longest Torch Relay in history, the Olympic Flame has come to rest and now lights the cauldron of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Yesterday Banksy announced via his website that a Banksy Film 'Exit Through The Gift Shop' will be coming soon to cinemas. The brief information on his site reveals the film has a 'mental age' of 13 and runs for 85 minutes. This has confirmed a massive amount of recent internet rumour and the movie is scheduled to be shown at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in the next week.

Tento blog má slúžiť hlavne mne, takže budem strašne rád, ak sem nikto nebude chodiť, okrem mňa! Samozrejme - vtipkujem, som nesmierne rád, že už je konečne online...

V prvom rade chcem poďakovať kamošovi Peťovi 01 - programátorovi, takže diky Peťo 01 za super rýchlu prácu + Peťovi 02 za kopec vecí a, samozrejme, aj frajerke za consulting hehe
